Welcome Message for the 21st International Congress of Oriental Medicine
Since its establishment in 1975, the International Society of Oriental Medicine (ISOM) has upheld its mission to promote traditional Oriental medicine, foster international academic exchange, and enhance global collaboration. Founded by esteemed scholars from Korea, Japan, and Taiwan, ISOM is headquartered in Seoul, Korea. As the only international medical organization in which Taiwan's traditional medicine community actively participates, ISOM serves not only as a vital bridge connecting Taiwan with the global medical community but also as a critical platform for Taiwanese experts to share their voices on the world stage. Over the years, numerous Taiwanese scholars have held core positions within ISOM, actively contributing to policy-making and academic initiatives, highlighting Taiwan’s influential presence and contribution.
After nearly half a century of cultivation and development, ISOM has emerged as one of the most authoritative and representative academic organizations in the field of Oriental medicine worldwide. It continues to promote the integration of traditional medicine with modern science, striving for greater recognition and application of Oriental medicine within global healthcare systems.
To strengthen academic exchange and technological collaboration across nations, ISOM holds its international congress every two to three years. Past congresses have been held in the United States, Switzerland, Korea, Japan, and Taiwan, attracting scholars and medical professionals from around the world and playing a crucial role in the globalization of Oriental medicine.
This year, the prestigious International Congress of Oriental Medicine will be held in Taiwan under the theme “From Evidence-Based Medicine to Integrative Medicine.” The theme aligns with current medical trends that emphasize scientific validation and interdisciplinary integration. It explores how traditional and modern medical practices can be deeply combined through evidence-based approaches and technological innovation, with the ultimate goal of improving global healthcare quality.
The congress will focus on three core topics:
Application of Big Data in Integrative Medicine: Exploring how traditional medicine databases, artificial intelligence, and data analytics can be integrated to enhance diagnostic accuracy, optimize treatment strategies, and redefine the landscape of East-West medical integration.
Evidence-Supported Models in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM): Sharing clinical trial outcomes and statistical analyses to strengthen the verifiability and reproducibility of TCM treatments, advancing their inclusion within mainstream global healthcare systems.
Future Trends in Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Discussing the integration of traditional and modern medicine in areas such as mental and physical wellness, preventive care, chronic disease management, and complementary cancer therapies—working toward a new paradigm of integrative medicine.
We sincerely invite scholars, clinicians, industry professionals, and researchers from around the world who are passionate about traditional medicine to join us for this international gathering of academic and technological exchange. Whether your focus lies in preserving the cultural legacy of traditional medicine or driving innovation through technology, this congress offers an exceptional platform for dialogue and cooperation.
With your participation, we look forward to sparking innovative, cross-disciplinary, and cross-cultural ideas that will further the global development of Oriental medicine. This congress is not only a feast of knowledge but also a launching point for our shared vision of the future of medicine. Let us unite in our pursuit of evidence-based and integrative approaches to mark a new milestone for traditional medicine in global health.
Wishing the congress great success, and we look forward to seeing you in Taiwan!
